We make car revolution happen
We have our own innovation-based ecosystem, which allows us to continuously bring in new thoughts and ideas and to further develop them into new concepts. We use joint crowdsourcing to share our know-how, we predict our innovations´ success on the market using a virtual market model and we file patent applications for our inventions.
The objective of the innovation program is:
- To create new products and services which we can offer to our customers
- To support other members of the Volkswagen Group to develop and implement new products and services into the market
- To support the Volkswagen Group in the formulation of patents
- To develop our own products and services, including our ability to innovate and boost our know-how
We do not want to create unusable “demo” concepts, but to drive innovation so that our ideas on automotive electrics and electronics are applicable in future serial production.
Projects and topics of interest to us
We use virtual reality to test new car functionalities. We verify both the vehicle’s functions and behaviour under various driving situations during the simulation.
We test the electronics prior to actually implementing these devices in the car. We are able to simulate road traffic and various driver behaviour types. Thanks to this, we can successfully test numerous scenarios which better prepare the tested software for the real world.
- We create comprehensive situations, including traffic obstruction simulations.
- We also test the functions within the vehicle in relation to road traffic.

- We also use virtual reality to focus on how the cars communicate with each other.

Automatic parking
We are innovating existing solutions to make parking even simpler and safer, whether for the passengers or for the bodywork and the vehicle’s highly sensitive sensors. An insufficient view from the window, increased vehicle sizes and narrow parking spaces are a challenge for us.
- We are increasing comfort and speeding up parking.
- We focus on visualising the vehicle’s exterior using cameras.
- We protect the vehicle when manoeuvring.
- We are working on a fully automated parking system.

Internet of Cars
Every new vehicle has been connected to the web since 2018. This gives us inexhaustible options to increase both road safety and driving comfort. We are working on both. We are developing new mobile applications, looking for options to improve existing technologies and designing entirely new solutions.
- We focus on the cars´ communication with the traffic infrastructure and with road users.
- We are working on making the software systems safer and more reliable.
- We are helping to fine tune the legal standards and are cooperating with the Czech Roads and Motorways Directorate.
- We are looking for options to further develop the Internet of Cars.

Shared economy – from drive to move
We are striving to make the car an added value product from the functional point of view. We are widening the options for using means of transport and ensuring that drivers have all the necessary information, ideally before they actually require it.
- We focus on the data which the vehicles are sending and the information which they are receiving.
- For example, your car may announce that a tyre change is necessary and inform you about the location of the nearby service stations.
- We are co-developing systems to simplify car sharing.
- And we are striving to simplify the access to your car via a virtual key.
